I'm Eytan Gall, a writer and scientist based in Belgium.

My writing has always lived somewhere between curiosity and unease. I have a scientific background in biological medicine and biotechnology, and I've spent much of my professional life working with science and technology. Fiction gives me a different way to explore the same questions: what happens when the things we create become more complicated than we intended, when the familiar becomes strange, or when the boundaries between reality and imagination begin to disappear?

I write across science fiction, horror, fantasy, and thriller, but the genre is usually less important to me than the idea behind the story. I'm interested in characters confronted with situations they cannot easily understand or control, and in the uncomfortable possibilities that emerge when science, technology, human nature, and the unknown collide.

My first collection, At the Edge of the Beyond, brings together hard science fiction stories shaped by my fascination with biotechnology, artificial intelligence, molecular biology, and deep space. Traps for the Living moves in a darker direction, exploring horror, fantasy, and the strange places where the ordinary can become threatening.

As a scientist I try to make sense of the world, and to find new ways to tackle what we do not yet understand. As an author I don't write to explain the world. I write because there are still plenty of things about it that I don't understand, and some of them make rather good stories.
